Massive interest in second AMB Iran
Messe Stuttgart and VDW aim to double the
exhibition space and number of exhibitors / Three-year contract signed
for new event venue
Messe Stuttgart and the VDW (German Machine
Tool Builders' Association) want to commit themselves in Iran over the
long term. The signing of a three-year contract for AMB Iran, the
exhibition for metal working, by Ulrich Kromer, President of Messe
Stuttgart, and Dr. Sayyed Mohammad Sayyedi, head of Exhibiran and
operator of the Shahr-e-Aftab trade fair grounds, guarantees the
realisation of AMB Iran for 2017, 2018 and 2019. Following the huge
success of the first AMB Iran, which took place from 30 May to 1 June
2016 in the Boostan Goftegoo’s Exhibition & Conference Center in
Teheran, the same development quickly unfolded as at the flagship event,
AMB, the international exhibition for metal working, in Stuttgart: The
trade fair grounds in Teheran did not provide enough space.
"We
designed the first AMB Iran as a congress with accompanying exhibition,
in order to test the water first of all in the new market of Iran
together with our event partner VDW", explains Ulrich Kromer.
"Discussions with exhibitors and international associations at AMB 2016
in Stuttgart, which has just come to a close, showed that significantly
greater commitment can be expected from exhibitors for 2017. The
presentation by the President of the Farazgaman Group, Arthur Hovsepian,
who presented AMB Iran within the framework of AMB Stuttgart and
described the market opportunities for international companies in Iran,
met with huge interest. The big demand now ensures that we are
relocating to larger grounds, because we want to develop AMB Iran as the
most important metal working exhibition in the country. The new trade
fair grounds in Teheran, Shahr-e-Aftab, are a perfect match. The aim is
to double the size of the event", is how Kromer summarises the visions
for the future.
AMB Iran 2016 occupied a total of 5,000 square
metres of exhibition space in the Boostan Gooftegoo Congress Center in
Teheran. 111 exhibitors were represented, 97 percent of whom came from
abroad. "From day one we had a very international start to the trade
fair participation", happily states Bernhard Müller, Vice President,
Messe Stuttgart International, about the successful début. The
exhibitors came from twelve countries, 68 came from Germany alone. Other
represented countries were, for example, Italy with 18 exhibitors,
Switzerland with nine exhibitors and Austria with three exhibitors. The
exhibitors included global leaders and industry giants. Smaller
medium-sized companies were also represented. They showcased innovations
and further developments in metal working machines, cutting machines,
metal forming (sheet metal working), precision tools, measuring and
testing technology, as well as automation technology. 26 exhibitors
participated in the accompanying symposium. Around 2,130 visitors from
home and abroad were interested in the offering of the first AMB Iran.
67 percent of the visitors came from the industrial region in and around
Teheran. 475 visitors took part in the accompanying symposium. Overall,
the visitors gave the first AMB good marks: 88 percent of the visitors
were satisfied with the trade fair visit and would attend the trade fair
again.
The job was clearly outlined for the organisers Messe
Stuttgart and VDW. A suitable venue had to be found, which was found
with the Shahr-e-Aftab trade fair grounds. The initial registrations for
the second AMB Iran have already been received, from global leaders and
smaller medium-sized companies equally. Some international pavilions
have already confirmed their participation for 2017, including Turkey
and Austria.
Following the drop of the sanctions, Iran is
currently considered one of the most sought-after investment
destinations worldwide. The need to catch up in terms of modernising
industry infrastructure is massive in Iran. In addition to the
modernisation of the oil industry, car manufacturing, the chemicals
industry and the healthcare industry offer enormous market potential for
mechanical and plant engineering. AMB Iran also receives support from
the VDMA (German Engineering Federation): Conceptual supporters of AMB
Iran are the VDMA Precision Tools Association and the VDMA Measuring and
Testing Technology Association.
